Fenerbahce have re-claimed the EuroLeague title after an 8-year-break with a win over Monaco



Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul re-claimed the EuroLeague title after an 8-year break, following the 81:70 victory against AS Monaco.



It was also a long-awaited title for the head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, who won his first EuroLeague trophy as a coach in his 6th Final Four appearance.

With the club's second title, Fenerbahce became the sixth team in EuroLeague history to win the competition twice.

The game started better for Monaco, who jumped out to a 13–4 lead midway through the first quarter.

However, Fenerbahce stayed composed and managed to stabilize the game. After Nicolo Melli's free throws at the end of the quarter, they trailed by just two points (18–20).

The second quarter unfolded similarly, with Monaco once again building a lead. After Alpha Diallo’s three-pointer with four minutes left in the half, Monaco led by nine (32–23).

But Fenerbahce responded with a 12–1 run to close the quarter, taking a 35–33 lead into halftime.

The game remained tightly contested in the second half, with both teams trading blows. Fenerbahce eventually went on a small run to create a 10-point cushion with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter (62–52).

Monaco trimmed the deficit over the next few minutes. With 2:29 left, Matthew Strazel drew a foul on a three-point attempt, and Fenerbahce guard Wade Baldwin was called for an unsportsmanlike foul, his second infraction after a technical earlier in the game, leading to an ejection.

Strazel hit two free throws and then connected on a corner three, cutting the lead to five (69–64), but Monaco couldn’t capitalize further.

Marko Guduric answered with two clutch free throws and followed with a dagger three-pointer to effectively seal the game with a minute to go (74–64).

Monaco’s final attempts to mount a comeback fell short, and Fenerbahce secured their long-awaited EuroLeague title.
